I scored 9's on my Apgars, just wait to see what I do on the SATs!!!

Happy Birthday Michael!!!

Erika went into labor early in the morning on Wednesday, January 15.  We headed to the hospital to meet up with our midwife, Trish.  After getting settled into a very busy labor and delivery ward we had a great labor.  Trish was with us through the whole labor and supported us and Erika was truly amazing, incredible, etc. etc.

Erika was able to have the intervention free birth (no drugs, no IV, not even any four letter words!) that she wanted for us and our baby.   We were able to do it with different positions (we spent most of the labor on the floor or in the shower), Trish's support and Erika just plain being a badass.

Thanks to Trish, our nurses Colleen, Stephanie, Jennifer, Kathy, Dr. Goodwin and the entire Evanston staff.

We're thrilled to be parents of a beautiful boy born on the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
We hope you enjoy the pictures.

Early labor at home with the birthball...

Active labor at the hospital rolling around the floor.

Our midwife, Trish, was phenomenal.

Happy Birthday Michael!!!
After a great birth Michael went straight for a snack.

7 pounds 12 ounces!
Where did Erika put all that baby?

Finally Dad gets his hands on his baby boy...

Just for comparison, here's my dad Michael
with me in December 1977.

Michael's Godparents, Sarah and Colin Huie
came in for a little post-labor celebration.

Michael and Dad working on this web page.
Michael did the layout, I just inserted the pictures.

Bionic Baby!
Actually it's just his hearing test, nothing scary.

Michael meets Erika's parents, Grandpa and Emma, and Aunt Katie (below).

Back at home, Michael gets comfy strapped onto Dad.

The dishes still need to be done.
Luckily Michael is a heavy sleeper.

Sleepy time for Michael and Erika.

Grandma!

Michele gets to hold him too!!!
