Trip to Italy
November 22-29, 2003

View of the Tiber River and the Basilica of St. Peter in the distance.

Michael Likes to help push his stroller as we check
in for our flight on KLM.

We flew through Amsterdam and had a great little bassinet that hooked into the bulkhead so Michael could sleep.

We stayed at a guest house run by some Franciscan sisters who were wonderful.

The convent was right next to St. Peter's Square.

These two photos show the view out of our window of St. Peter's.

The Forum.

We had some rain but nothing too bad.

The Pantheon in the rain.

Dinner in our hotel room.

Looking up at the dome inside St. Peter's.

Taking a break in the courtyard outside the Sistine Chapel.

Family photo at the Papal Audience.

Outside the Church of St. John Lateran.

In the Colisseum.

Michael loved the trains.
We took the train to Assisi for Thanksgiving Day.

And McDonald's.

Assisi

From the Basilica of St. Francis.

On our last day in Italy we drove to Montaguto which is the town where my great grandparents Julius and Donatella Serluca were born.

Our rental car.

See I didn't just make it up we actually went to the town.

The main town square.

Another view.

This is a park and the war memorial.

The memorial for WW II has my family name enscribed "Serluca."
Probably some distant cousins.

This is the statue in front of the church where my great grandparents were married.
